ABOUT ME
Sam Davison is a Sydney-based filmmaker, cinematographer and colourist whose work is defined by naturalistic visuals, strong composition, and images that carry narrative weight. With a background spanning directing, camera, editing and colour, Sam brings a complete understanding of the image pipeline to every project he works on.
As director, Sam has won Best Senior Film at REELise Film Festival in back-to-back years for Interrupted (2023) and The Last Hot Guy on Earth (2024) - the latter also selected as a finalist at the St Kilda Film Festival (2025). Earlier shorts Guided (2021) and Mis-Taken (2022) each won Best Film at REELise in consecutive years, with Guided selected for St Kilda's Under the Radar competition (2021) and Interrupted following suit (2023).
As cinematographer, Sam's credits span narrative short film and music video. Drifters won Best Short Film at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. Danni Fenech's Ablaze (2023) won Best Young Australian Short Film at the Hervey Bay Film Festival (2024) and Best Short Drama at the Voices of Women Film Festival (2025), while Fenech's follow-up Kindling (2024) won Best Student Film at the Aussie Gold Film Festival. Sam also served as DOP on Jett Blyton's 'Landmine' music video, which premiered on ABC's Rage.
Beyond narrative work, Sam spent two years as senior video editor at Skyline Creative and runs a YouTube channel with over 3,000 subscribers dedicated to colour grading education in DaVinci Resolve.
